Equity mutual funds saw inflows of Rs 28,054 crore in December 2025, a decline of around 6 percent compared with Rs 29,911 crore in November, as per monthly data released by AMFI. Even with this mild slowdown, investor participation in equity schemes remained steady.
The mutual fund industry as a whole reported net outflows of Rs 66,571 crore during the month, mainly due to heavy redemptions from debt schemes. Debt mutual funds recorded net outflows of Rs 1.32 lakh crore in December.
According to AMFI Chief Executive Venkat Chalasani, the industry’s assets under management stood at Rs 80.23 lakh crore as of December 2025. He noted that the moderation was largely driven by debt fund outflows linked to liquidity management, along with limited market-led valuation changes. On a year-on-year basis, industry AUM grew 19.9 percent, supported by higher investor participation and continued adoption of mutual funds across segments.
As of December 31, 2025, open-ended equity-oriented schemes managed assets worth ₹35.73 lakh crore, while open-ended debt-oriented schemes had AUM of Rs 18.10 lakh crore.
In other categories, hybrid schemes saw inflows of Rs 10,756 crore. ‘Other schemes’, including ETFs, recorded net inflows of Rs 26,723 crore, while solution-oriented schemes posted modest inflows of Rs 345 crore during the month.
